Happy New Year, 2024 here we come!

Posted on: January 15th, 2024

The festive period has just been so busy for group members, with a Christmas tree to festoon at St Just Miners Chapel and wreaths to create with Ali Law from Wild West Flowers.

So we apologise that the general merriment prevented us from giving a more recent update.

As we move into a new year, the group hope to build on our positivity of recent times and begin to plan for what the year may have in store.

Firstly we are thrilled to announce our first fundraising event of 2024!

Mark Holman, esteemed garden designer and horticulturist will be joining us on Friday 9th February at St Just WI Hall to give a talk on ‘Garden Regeneration’.

May be an image of text that says "'Garden Regeneration' with Mark Holman TV gardener, Chelsea Flower Show Designer and Show Director Cornwall Garden Society Hosted by St Just in Bloom Friday 9th February St Just WI Hall 7.30pm £4 entry Bar available All funds raised goes towards our work for 2024!"

Success at our 20th anniversary event!

November 2023:

The whole community joined members old and new back in November for a celebratory evening at the St Just Old Town Hall.

Congratulations to all our award winners, including our garden, photography and RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood entrants.

A massive thank you must go out to everyone that assisted in making this event such a wonderful evening; all of the SJIB volunteers, the team at the Old Town Hall, St Just Town Council, Della Events, Sugar Rae Bakery, local businesses and schools. A special mention to West Penwith Photography for capturing some beautiful images of the evening.

Here’s to another 20 years!

2023 is St Just in Bloom’s 20th year and we wish to celebrate in style!

We will be hosting a celebration evening at St Just Old Town Hall and will be inviting as many members past and present; and numerous community groups and organisations that I have supported our work over the last 20 years.

We will also be handing out our annual awards for our Gardening, Painting and Photography competitions.

If you wish to attend, please RSVP to the group by November 1st either by our Facebook page or email committee@stjustinbloom.org.uk.

Summer summary!

Posted on: October 12th, 2023

So it’s been a little while, but as you can see, this summer has been super busy!

May gave us our main planting day, and as you can see we had a fantastic turnout of members and volunteers to share all the plants.

June brought 2 new planters into Bank Square, thanks to St Just Men’s Shed for creating it and what a fine addition they are! Our tiered planters also arrived to further adorn Bank Square.

July was judging month, with our RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood judging day, touring us around the town. This was followed by our own gardening competition, showcasing the horticultural delights of the town.

War memorial planters refresh

Posted on: May 20th, 2023

Just in time for the Coronation two weeks ago, our Vice Chair Phillipa gave the war memorial steps a little lift. What a difference it makes!

You may have spotted many of our volunteers busy sprucing up our planters, in preparation for our yearly plant delivery. Each planter is assessed, weeded and replenished with fresh soil. This allows each planter to give the best floral display. Hopefully all the efforts will be worthwhile in a few weeks time!

Plant and Bake sales kick off for 2023!

Posted on: May 20th, 2023

Our annual plant and bake sales kicked off on a very soggy Monday 8th May! Our Chair, Vice Chairs and Secretary all braved the weather to sell a wonderful selection of plants and cakes. We raised a phenomenal £400 thanks to the generous St Justers! So thank you thank you thank you! ❤️

Keep an eye on our Facebook page, when our next sale sale dates will be announced soon.

Wildlife Gardening with Liam Shoesmith

Posted on: February 27th, 2023
We were joined by faces old and new at our wildlife gardening talk with the gardener @liamshoesmith. Liam was full of wildlife tips and tricks, plus happily answered any burning gardening queries.
The group wish to thank him wholeheartedly for coming down for a visit and helping us to raise over £100 towards our gardening projects this year!
Finally a huge shout out to all the group members and officers that assisted in arranging the event, with providing delicious delights or serving the refreshments.
We hope that everyone who came had a wonderful evening!
